Online therapy in Texas for teens, young adults and families
Fifteen years of working with young people who are struggling, and the parents trying to hold it together. Licensed across Texas, entirely online, no waiting room and no drive across Houston.
What I do
Online therapy across Texas
Wherever you are in Texas, sessions happen from wherever you actually are. Houston, Austin, El Paso, a college dorm, a car outside work.
-
Therapy for teens
For the teenager who has stopped talking, started slipping, or is making choices that scare you. We work on what is underneath, not just the behaviour on the surface.
-
Therapy for young adults
For young adults building a life on their own values rather than everyone else's expectations. Work, school, trade, relationships, independence.
-
Family therapy
When everyone is talking and nobody is being heard. We work on the patterns, not the last argument.
-
Substance use support
Fifteen years across every level of care, from residential and partial hospitalisation to alternative peer groups and recovery high schools.
-
High-risk behaviour
Self-harm, unsafe relationships, impulsive decisions. Experienced, steady support for families in the middle of it.
-
Parent support
Peace and footing for you as a parent, even when your young person is not making great choices.
Who you would be working with
Meet Allie
I am Allie Haydon, a licensed psychotherapist in Texas, and I have spent fifteen years working with teens, young adults and their families.
I have worked at every level of care there is. Residential, intensive outpatient, partial hospitalisation, outpatient therapy, alternative peer groups and recovery high schools. There is not much you can tell me that I have not sat with before.
I am a straight shooter. I will tell you what I actually think, and I will use humour when a moment is dark enough to need it. Most families tell me that is the part that helps.
I hold LPC-S, LMFT-S and LCDC, which means I am also approved to supervise across three licences.
How it works
Simple from first contact to first session
Three steps, and you can stop at any of them.
-
Get in touch
Fill in the form or call. Tell me roughly what is going on, in as much or as little detail as you like.
-
A short consultation
We work out whether I am the right fit. If I am not, I will tell you and point you somewhere better.
-
Start sessions
Sessions run online through a secure platform, from wherever you are in Texas.
Not sure where to start?
Most parents who contact me have already tried everything they can think of. That is usually the right time to call.
Understanding the options
-
Online therapy in Texas, sometimes called telehealth therapy or virtual therapy, is the same clinical work as sitting in an office. Same licence, same confidentiality, same approach. The only difference is that you join by secure video instead of driving there.
For families, that difference matters more than it sounds. A teenager who would refuse to walk into a waiting room will often talk from their own bedroom. Parents who work full time do not lose half a day to a commute. And if you live somewhere in Texas without a therapist who specialises in adolescents, geography stops being the reason you cannot get help.
I am licensed as a psychotherapist in Texas, which means I can provide online counseling in Texas to anyone physically located in the state at the time of the session. You do not need to be in Houston. You do need to be in Texas.
-
In my experience, often better. Young people are already comfortable talking through a screen. It lowers the stakes of the first few sessions, which is usually where teenagers decide whether they are going to engage at all.
Who I work with
If any of this sounds familiar
Three situations that come up again and again.
-
The parent who is exhausted
You have tried talking, grounding, bargaining and pleading. The house feels like it revolves around one person's mood. You want your home back and you want your kid to be okay.
-
The teenager everyone is worried about
Grades slipping, new friends, secrecy, and something that feels bigger than normal teenage stuff. You are not sure how much is a phase and how much is not.
-
The young adult who feels stuck
Twenty-something, still at home, and not sure how to start. Wanting everything around you to change without knowing how to change any of it.
You do not have to wait until it is a crisis
Families often tell me they wish they had called six months earlier. There is no threshold you need to reach first.

Common questions
Frequently asked questions
-
Yes. I am licensed as a psychotherapist in Texas and can work with anyone physically located in the state at the time of their session. Houston, Dallas, Austin, San Antonio, the Rio Grande Valley or a small town in between.
-
Not for therapy. Therapy licences are state by state. I can, however, offer coaching to parents and young adults anywhere in the country, which is a different service with a different scope.
-
For adolescents and families, research and my own experience both say yes. Teenagers often open up faster on video than in an unfamiliar office.
-
Common, and not a dead end. I often start by working with parents alone. Changing what happens at home changes what the young person is responding to, and many teenagers join in later on their own terms.
-
Individual and Family sessions are $175, I take Zelle or can charge a card on file using Ivy Pay

There are several reasons I have chosen to not take insurance, however, I CAN provide you with a Superbill that you can submit to your insurance carrier for reimbursement.
1. It takes away time and efficiency working with you as it requires time and energy spent on paperwork and phone calls fighting for your treatment.
2. It hinders my clinical expertise as insurance can dictate duration and modality of treatment.
3. It requires a diagnosis at our first meeting which is not always helpful or accurate in the first session as I am just getting to know you.
4. It can fill up my practice with clients who may be better served by other wonderful practitioners simply because I show up on their insurance panel. This allows me to continue doing great work with clients I truly feel I can help. -
The first session can look a bit different for each client depending on what your needs are.
Typically, I start by reviewing the highlights of the forms you completed prior to our session, such as the limits of my confidentiality, how to contact me between sessions, and what to do in an emergency.
Together, we will begin talking about what brought you to therapy. I will guide you with questions to make sure I have the information I need and that feels relevant to you. I work out of a Solution-Focused Brief Therapy framework, so I treat every session like it is our only one, even when I've seen clients for years. This means that after each and every session, you will log-off with a tool or resource to utilize outside of the therapy session. Clients feel this ensures they have real time help with what brought them to therapy right away.
We will collaborate to determine the frequency of sessions (weekly or bi-weekly) and approximate duration of therapy. I usually recommend planning for 8-10 sessions. However this can change at any time based on your needs.
At the end of our first session, we schedule our next session together!
